BRUNEI RUN 2021
THE inaugural Brunei Run 2020 took place in Bandar Seri Begawan on January 5, 2020, in support of the United Nations (UN) International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.
In a collaboration with McDonald's Brunei and technically supported by the Brunei Darussalam Athletics Federation, the measured course will begin at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien and loop around the picturesque Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Bridge, providing a unique opportunity for participants to run on the iconic 622 metre-long bridge, through Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas and experience the beat of the city.
The route will feature breathtaking views of the city’s well-known Kampong Ayer on the Brunei River, the Royal Regalia Museum and the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque, which is expected to attract hundreds of runners and spectators.
As one of the first major events in 2020, the Brunei Run 2020 featured a 10km competitive race for men and women (open) and a 5km competitive race for men and women (open), to bring together different segments at all fitness levels within the community.

Chairperson of Brunei Run 2021 Awangku Shari Addeni bin Pengiran Tajuddin said, “We are really excited to present the Second Edition of Brunei Run with health and safety measure remained our utmost priority. The Brunei Run set as an example to bring the local and global wellness community, especially after the great response we have seen to our very first Brunei Run held in January 2020 and many of sporting events held in the city, especially at Bandarku Ceria.
“Brunei Run is a perfect addition to our yearly calendar, after the successful event that we host including the inaugural Half-Marathon Borneo Run 2019 Brunei Darussalam, Development Run 2020 for the Ministry of Development, BR Prelude for World AIDS Day 2019, Larian Harapan for UBDCorp and the recent Brunei Half-Marathon - Larain Bangar 2020 which was sold out within a day.,”
Brunei Run 2021 is supported by the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department, approved by the Youth and Sports Department under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and technically supported by the Brunei Darussalam Athletics Federation.
